Fewer Fighters for Funding from Richmond

Southwest Virginia is going to have a tougher fight for a piece of the budget pie. With the retirement of Commonwealth Senator William Wampler, Junior and Delegate Bud Phillips, two long time members with key roles are gone. Wampler would have been the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee. Phillips was on the House Appropriations Panel. Freshman Senator Bill Carrico and first year Delegate Israel O’Quinn, who took the open seats, did not get the same committee assignments, last week.
