Electric Car Owners Receive Discounted Electric Deal

For our listeners with service from Appalachian Power, good news for you is that they are offering a discount to electric car owners who recharge their vehicles in lower demand hours. The discount deal is part of a pilot program that was just recently approved by the State Corporation Commission.
According to Appalachian Power’s latest news release, residential customers with typical electric car consumption of 2,700 kilowatt hours per year should see a savings of roughly $87. This savings will be for those charging at home during off peak hours. Currently there estimated to be roughly 700 plug-in type electric cars registered in the Appalachian Virginia service area.
