Deputies Rouse, Vanhuss and K-9 Bishop Arrest Two Pennington Gap Men

Today’s twin WSWV local news item is about the early Sunday morning traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of two Pennington Gap men and the seizure of illegal drugs and cash.

According to Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons in the latest Lee County Sheriff’s Office Press Release, the traffic stop occurred in Jonesville where Deputy Chad Rouse observed a vehicle being operated by an individual that he knew had no operator’s license. Deputy Rouse observed the occupants of the vehicle, 38 year old Brandon Heath Dye of Pennington Gap and 39 year old Michael Anthony Thacker also of Pennington Gap acting suspiciously.

Sheriff Parsons stated that Deputy Rouse called for Deputy Mark Vanhuss and his K-9 Bishop. Upon searching the vehicle and with the dog ‘alerting’ on several parts of the vehicle a search of the vehicle was then conducted. The search resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, baggies, scales, syringes and $1200 in cash.

Both individuals were placed under arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule 1 narcotic, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Dye was additionally charged with Driving Suspended. Currently both are being held in the Duffield Regional Jail without bond.

Sheriff Parsons commended the good work of Deputy Rouse and the K-9 team of Deputy Vanhuss and Bishop.
