Data center bringing jobs to the Scott and surrounding counties

The expansion of a technology-based company’s operations to Duffield, Va. may eventually provide several hundred job opportunities to our region.

Native Cloud (NC) Virginia’s data center operations is set to create 72 new jobs, with the potential for the project to eventually employ up to 500 people.

Unskilled support positions with NC Virginia are expected to pay up to $16 per hour, with rates for skilled positions paying up to $25 per hour.

According to a press release from the Scott County Economic Development Authority, the company will invest approximately $42 million in Scott County.

NC Virginia will be located within the Crooked Road Tech Center in the Scott County Regional Business and Technology Park in Duffield.

State Delegate Terry Kilgore, R-Gate City, who also serves as the chairman of the Virginia Tobacco Commission, says he is excited about the employment opportunities NC Virginia’s expansion into Duffield will bring not just to Scott County, but the entire far Southwest Virginia region.

NC Virginia is contracted to provide data storage and managed services for a Fortune 500 company.
