Continuous to public hearing

As a continuous to the hospital public hearing that was on Wednesday, October 8.

Many people stated that Lee County was a place that many individuals decided to come back to the area to retire.

Michael James, Director of Industrial Development Authority, stated that Lee County is a great place to retire and Lee County has a higher average of senior citizens who would need to have access to a hospital.

Sheriff Gary Parsons stated that the local volunteer EMS services have seen a financial strain since the closing of the hospital.  Due to the extra travel times, EMS is not able to get access to all of the emergency calls but they are doing their best to reach more people.

Many other people spoke about their personal situations about not having a hospital and asking to say yes for a hospital in Lee County.
