Claude Gene Sloan Sentenced to 14 Years

According to the Scott County Virginia Sheriff’s Office, after an extended investigation, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain a search warrant for the residence of Claude Gene Sloan in the Speers Valley area of Duffield, Virginia. Assisted by the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force and the ATF, the search netted several pounds of marijuana, a growing operation, and illegal firearms.
Some of the charges that resulted were taken to the federal level where Sloan pled guilty in Abingdon Federal Court. On November 14th he was sentenced to fourteen years in Federal Prison. Records show that Sloan had previously served a sentence in Virginia of roughly fourteen years for Possession of Marijuana, Manufacturing Marijuana and Arson.
