Recently a federal judge granted an injunction to stop Virginia's DMV from enforcing a law which requires automatic license suspensions for anyone failing to pay court ordered fines. U.S. District Judge Norman Moon ordered DMV Commissioner Rick Holcomb to remove the suspensions on three plaintiff's drivers license and to reinstate their driving privelege. This ruling came after Governor Ralph Northam criticized the DMV's policy. Director of the Legal Aid Justice Center, Angel Ciolfi described it as "a victory for the Constitution and for common sense." Spokesman for the Attorney General's Office stated they will take some time to consider the judge's opinion before they proceed.
