Chaos to Calm Training Program June 1st

Frontier Health’s Post Adoption Services, along with Planning District One and the Virginia Department of Social Services will hold a Chaos to Calm training program on June 1st, 2018 at the Goodloe Center located at Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, beginning at 9:30 am and lasting until 2:30pm that afternoon. This free program is geared towards public professionals, adoptive parents, potential adoptive parents with approved home studies and foster parents.
A free lunch will be provided to attendees. Adoptive parents attending will also be eligible to receive reimbursement for child care and travel expenses.
Presentation will be provided by Ms. Juli Avarado, MA, LPC, founder and Senior Clinical Consultant for Alvarado Consulting and Treatment Group.
The training program will provide an overview of trauma, along with the impact on social, emotional, and behavioral levels, along with providing strategies for appropriate responses for potential traumas at work, in public or at home.
Also available on the same date at the same location will be a presentation by Alvarado entitled Fireside Chat from 6:30-8:00pm. Offering a more informal opportunity to reflect, engage and plan to any interested individuals. For additional information on this you may call (276)-523-8316.

Funding for Post Adoptive Services is provided through a Virginia Department of Social Services grant to support services for foster and adoptive parents in Lee, Wise, and Scott Counties as well as the City of Norton.
