Cash and Narcotics Seized in Coeburn Drug Bust

As a result of a drug investigation spanning several months, which involved the purchase of drugs from the residence at 713 Plum Avenue S.E. in Coeburn, a search warrant was issued.

On the morning of January 26, 2016 at approximately 8:50am, agents from the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force (DTF) along with the Virginia State Police Tac Team, City of Norton Police Department, Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Big Stone Gap Police Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, and the Town of Coeburn Police Department, executed the search warrant at the residence involved. Joseph Manwell Reynolds of Georgia, who was inside the residence at the time the search warrant was executed, was charged with Conspiracy to Sell, Give, or Distribute a Controlled Substance Classified as Schedule I or II. Among the items seized were paraphernalia and precursors used in the manufacture and selling of narcotics along with cash in excess of $11,000.

Reynolds was held without bond and is currently incarcerated at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority in Duffield, VA. According to the DTF this is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending.
