The Lee County Board of Supervisors and the Commonwealth Transportation Board, along with VDOT will conduct a dedication of the bridge over Indian Creek west of Ewing on Wednesday at 1 p.m. to Williard and Ruth Estep. Willard served in WWII and was seriously wounded. Ruth Estep worked as a riveter on airplanes in Baltimore, Maryland during the war. They established a rolling grocery store business in Lee and Claiborne Counties in 1951 including Estep's Grocery near Ewing that they operated until 1987. Both have passed but the Supervisors have asked to name the bridge the "Willard and Ruth Estep Memorial Bridge" in their honor.
