Adriana Trigiani, author of the book-turned-film “Big Stone Gap” announced Friday that following the movie’s premier on October 9th, a celebration will be held to honor and thank the town for their support. Trigiani said in a news interview Friday that the celebration is to show gratitude to the town for pushing to have the movie made there and for participating. The celebration will take place on October 10, the day after the movie’s release and preliminary details include a community pancake breakfast, a 5K run on a route that will pass many of the actual filming locations, a parade through the middle of town with several area bands, floats honoring the movie’s extras and many other themed floats from school, civic and other organizations, all based on people and places depicted in the book and movie.Also scheduled is a ticketed reception at the John Fox, Jr. House to meet with some of the stars if the film. A reunion for the many extras will be held at the June Tolliver House and Trail of the Lonesome Pine theater, and a community block party will feature an actual red carpet walk down Wood Avenue for many of the local actors and main characters. Again that event will take place on October 10th.
