Ballad Health Seeking Services Consolidation

The Virginia Department of Health has received a request on behalf of Ballad Health for permission to combine and reorganize their services for Norton's three hospitals as well as Wise County.
If granted, the ER, In Patient, and Surgery service currently at Mountain View Hospital in Norton will be transferred to Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap.
Norton Communiity Hospital will continue to offer the aforementioned services and Mountain View will offer Long Term Care and Behavioral Health Services.
According to Ball Health, these changes will improve current health care by keeping relevant medical teams in one location as opposed to traveling between hospitals. Ballad Health officials recently reported a strong economic performance in their first full year of operations since the former health care rivals merged.
Ending June 30th, their fiscal year show an improvement in Operating Cash Flow to $228 million, which is up from the previous year's $197 million. They also report total revenue increased by 1.3% while their expanses remained even. Ballad Health spent just over $1 billion dollars on salaries, wages and benefits for their approximately 15,000 employees
