The Lee County Industrial Development Authority met last Thursday in their regular monthly meeting. The Authority was pleased to announce Envi Hair Studio as their Spotlight Business of the Month. Envi is located in Jonesville and offers a number of beauty services.
The IDA has submitted an application for an Enterprise Zone designation within the county. This is the last year to apply for this program and the authority will receive word in October as to whether or not the application was approved.
Repairs to the Patriot Center in Pennington Gap were discussed as negotiations between the insurance company and contractor are on-going. The building received a large amount of damage during the hail storm last July.
The IDA also approved a $50,000 appropriation from the economic development fund to assist a local business. The Board of Supervisors will also vote on the matter at their next meeting, when the name of the business will be announced.
Finally, the Authority discussed the sale of timber at the Constitutional Oaks property in Western Lee County. Advertisement for bids on this project will begin this week.
