Appalachian Care IRT Health & Wellness Event Going on Now

The Health Wagon along with the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) Program to better offer no cost dental, eye, medical and veterinarian services. The IRT is a Department of Defense (DoD) military training opportunity that’s exclusive to the United States and its territories, which delivers joint training opportunities to increase deployment readiness.
The next Appalachian Care IRT Health & Wellness Event is happening each day now thru August 26th at the Wise County Fair Grounds from 8:00am-4:30pm each day. During the event they will offer expert medical, dental and optical services, as well as, complete eye exams, single lens prescription glasses, dental fillings, extractions, limited cleanings, veterinary services and medical care.
This IRT Event will have two days specifically for individuals with disabilities on August 22nd (Today) and August 26th by appointment only. To be scheduled on one of the designated disability days please phone the Health Wagon at 276-328-8850.
Veterinary services to be offered include spaying, neutering, rabies vaccinations for both cats and dogs. Animals need to be at least four pounds and four months old, but no more than seventy pounds for surgery. Rabies vaccine will be available for pets at least twelve weeks of age. If they are already vaccinated you are required to provide proof, otherwise they will be vaccinated before any surgery. Your pet must be in a crate or on a leash and if they are not, they will not be seen. No food after midnight but please continue to provide fresh water. You will be able to check in your pet and then have health care services while waiting.
