Angela Denise Sweeney Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

Locally in the news; a recent traffic stop in the Dryden section of Lee County led to one arrest and the seizure of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons reports that officers were in the Dryden area searching for a weapon following a call of shots fired. Local officers were beside the road searching when a vehicle passed matching the description of a vehicle named in connection with that call.
Sheriff Parsons said the officers stopped the vehicle and found the driver to be forty-two year old Angela Denise Sweeney of Dryden.
According to Sheriff Parsons, a search of the vehicle revealed illegal drug paraphernalia, hydrocodone pills, marijuana, and twenty-five grams of methamphetamine.
Sheriff Parsons said that Sweeney was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hydrocodone without a prescription and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Sweeney is being held in the Duffield Regional Jail without bond.
Sheriff Parsons went on to commend the good work of Deputy Sergeant J.T. Coleman, Deputy Sergeant Chris Dillman, Deputy Mason Cook, and Pennington Gap Officer Jimmy Adair.
