The 1st Annual Lee County Drug Court Golf Tournament will take place on April 22 at Cedar Hill Country Club. The tournament will help raise money for the Lee County Drug Court program which provides an alternative to incarceration for drug addicts who commit nonviolent, petit crimes to fuel their addiction. The program requires the participants to engage in drug treatment, find employment, pass regular drug screens, repay fines and court costs, and perform community service. The program is intense and demanding, and not everyone is able to complete it. But a successful drug court graduate is a working, tax-paying, productive member of society, as opposed to someone that we are paying to incarcerate. Everybody wins.
Commonwealth's Attorney Fuller Cridlin is encourage everyone to participate in this tournament and support our drug court program by playing on a team, sponsoring a hole, or donating a door prize.
