The Mountain States Health Alliance is cutting 168 jobs. One of the largest employers in the region, the organization says there’s been a decrease in in-patient care and surgical patient care, in addition to an increase in charity care, leading to a need to trim 70 million dollars in expenses before the end of the summer. 133 positions will be cut in Washington County, 63 jobs are lost at Johnson City Medical Center, the rest will come from Mountain States’ Corporate offices. 90 jobs that are currently open will also be eliminated.
